Jerusalem Man, 29, Killed in Car Crash in Chisinau, Moldova
A 29-year-old man from Jerusalem was killed overnight between Tuesday and Wednesday in a car accident in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. According to ZAKA, the vehicle he was traveling in overturned into a wadi.
Rescue crews who arrived at the scene pulled him out in critical condition, but after attempts to treat him, they were forced to pronounce him dead. Baruch Nidam, head of ZAKA’s international division, said that “immediately after receiving the report, the division’s teams arrived at the accident site.”
Nidam said the teams found the car “wrecked inside the wadi” and are now working with local authorities to handle the body respectfully and secure its release for transfer to Israel for burial. Nachman Dikstein, commander of ZAKA Europe, said his team immediately opened contact with authorities in Chisinau and other relevant officials, and is supporting the family throughout the process while collecting evidence at the scene and trying to expedite the deceased’s release and return to Israel “as quickly as possible and with proper dignity.”
