A 29-year-old Jerusalem resident was killed Wednesday in a traffic accident in Chisinau, the capital of Moldova. His car overturned into a ravine in the city, and rescue teams that arrived at the scene extracted him and pronounced him dead there.
ZAKA’s international unit is helping the family bring his body to burial in Israel. The organization said that upon receiving the report, it began working with local authorities, the family and the Jewish community to secure the scene, advance the necessary procedures and arrange the transfer of the deceased for burial in Israel.
Nachman Dikstein, commander of ZAKA Europe, who is handling the case, said the group immediately began dealing with officials in Chisinau and other relevant parties. He said ZAKA is accompanying the family throughout the process and is working to collect evidence at the site, hasten the release of the deceased and move him to Israel “as quickly as possible and with proper dignity.”
