Israel Investigates Possible Iranian Role in Flydubai Incident

Israeli security forces are investigating the possibility that Iran was involved in an incident aboard a Flydubai flight from Dubai to Israel. A senior Israeli security official stated that the scenario feared was an attempt to crash the plane and cause mass murder of Israelis. "If it turns out that Iran is behind what happened, it will pay dearly for it," the source said, adding that Israeli services had recently received warnings about threats against Israeli citizens and Israeli-linked targets in the region. These concerns were also linked to recent decisions regarding flights of Israeli airlines to Dubai.

The incident occurred on the morning of September 30th aboard Flydubai flight FZ1073. The aircraft transmitted distress signals, including code 7500, which indicates unlawful interference with a flight. Israeli fighter jets were scrambled. According to Reuters, the plane lost approximately 14,000 feet in altitude in less than 30 seconds. The Boeing 737 eventually landed safely in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia. Flydubai confirmed the incident, stating all passengers were safe, but provided no further details.

A senior source described the event as a "disaster that could have become an Israeli 9/11" that was averted. The possibility of Iranian involvement remains under investigation by Israeli services, with no official confirmation yet that Tehran was behind the incident.
