Sunflower Seed Product Recalled Due to Incorrect Sodium Labeling
Dean Marketing and Roasting 2021 Ltd. is recalling its "Sason Hakola" brand of roasted, unsalted sunflower seeds. The recall was initiated after a consumer complaint and subsequent testing by the Food Service revealed that the product is not, in fact, unsalted, contrary to its labeling.
The affected product is labeled as "Roasted Sunflower Seeds Unsalted," sold under the "Sason Hakola" brand, in 150-gram packages. The expiration dates for the recalled batches are January 26, 2027, August 27, 2027, and August 12, 2027. The barcode for the product is 7290019297642.
Consumers who have purchased the product are urged not to consume it, especially those who are medically required to limit their sodium intake or adhere to a low-sodium diet. In coordination with the Central District Food Service, the company is actively collecting the product from distribution channels and removing it from sale.
