Popular Sunflower Seeds Recalled Over Mislabeled Sodium Content

Dean Marketing and Roasting 2021 Ltd. has issued a product recall for "Sason Hakola" brand roasted sunflower seeds due to a labeling error. The recall was initiated following a consumer complaint that prompted an investigation by the Food Service.

An inspection revealed that while the product is marketed and sold as "salt-free roasted seeds," the packaging falsely states it contains no sodium, when in fact it does. The affected products are 150-gram packages of "Sason Hakola" roasted sunflower seeds, with expiration dates of January 26, 2027, August 12, 2027, and August 27, 2027, and barcode 7290019297642.

Consumers who possess the product are urged not to consume it. This warning is particularly critical for individuals who must limit their sodium intake for medical reasons or adhere to a low-sodium diet. The company is working to collect the packages and remove them from sale in coordination with the Food Service in the Central District.
