IDF Reveals Extent of Violent Riots in Jalud, Citing 'Bright Red Line'

The Israeli military has revealed details of violent riots that occurred in the Palestinian village of Jalud, during which over 100 Israeli rioters allegedly attacked Palestinian property and security forces. According to an initial IDF inquiry, the rioters arrived after a Palestinian family returned to their home accompanied by IDF and Border Police (Magav) forces. The rioters reportedly set fire to a neighboring house before entering the family's home, initiating severe violence.

The rioters blocked roads with large stones, burned tires, threw stones at security forces, and set fire to Palestinian structures and vehicles, including two belonging to the affected family. Three Border Police officers were injured, and a security forces vehicle was damaged. Forces used riot dispersal measures and called for reinforcements.

The IDF stated that its soldiers physically protected the family from the rioters, preventing a more severe incident, and sustained aggressive violence. The military emphasized that this level of violence from Jewish rioters, occurring during the Sukkot holiday while security forces were engaged in widespread protective duties, constitutes a "bright red line" that is unacceptable and must be eradicated.

Security officials described the incident as spontaneous and evolving, noting that preemptive intelligence from the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) was limited. These officials also revealed that the Shin Bet recently decided to deploy its operational unit against Jewish terrorism in the West Bank, a unit typically used against core Palestinian terrorist cells.
