IDF Soldiers Faced Life-Threatening Danger From Jewish Rioters in West Bank Village

Senior Israeli military officials stated that Israel Defense Forces (IDF) soldiers faced life-threatening danger from Jewish rioters during an incident in the Palestinian village of Jalud in the West Bank on Tuesday night. The rioters reportedly set fire to a Palestinian family's home and threw stones at the soldiers.

More than 100 Jewish individuals allegedly descended on the village while IDF forces were escorting the Palestinian Tobasi family, who were attempting to return to their home nearly two months after being forced to abandon it. The rioters blocked roads, set vehicles and tires ablaze, and hurled stones at the troops. During the chaos, three Border Police officers sustained minor injuries, and a security vehicle was damaged.

The Tobasi family was expelled from their home in late July after a weeks-long siege, and Jewish rioters subsequently took control of it. The Israeli Supreme Court had ordered the family's return within two weeks on September 6. Last week, security forces informed the family that their return would be delayed due to the rioters' occupation of the house.

Due to the severe disturbances, the IDF forces were compelled to extract the family from the area. A senior officer told Kan News that law enforcement is aware of the rioters' identities and urged authorities to act before a tragedy occurs.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the rioters, stating they do not represent law-abiding settlers in Judea and Samaria and cause them immense harm. He expressed support for the IDF and Border Police soldiers and called on law enforcement to prosecute the rioters to the fullest extent of the law.
