Israel's Health Ministry Shuts Down Medica Tel Aviv Medical Center

The Israeli Ministry of Health has ordered the complete cessation of operations at the Medica Tel Aviv medical center, located on Ha'Barzel Street in the Ramat Ha'Chayal area of Tel Aviv. The decision follows an unannounced inspection that uncovered numerous violations concerning operating room procedures and patient safety.

According to the ministry, inspectors documented instances where medical procedures were performed by specialists exceeding their professional authority and in violation of current protocols. These identified deficiencies indicate systemic management failures within the clinic and pose a direct threat to public health and safety.

The district health official has issued a formal decree to close the facility indefinitely. The clinic's activities were halted on the evening of Monday, September 28, 2026, and all medical procedures within the building are temporarily prohibited.

Management of the Medica Tel Aviv network, its owners, and board members have been summoned for an official inquiry. The ministry is also considering personal sanctions against staff members who performed procedures outside their professional scope.

This is not the first time such violations have been noted in the healthcare system. In July of the same year, an inspection at the "Medica Raphael" center also led to a demand for the immediate suspension of its operating room activities. That clinic's operations were later gradually resumed after deficiencies were rectified and guarantees of compliance with licensing requirements were provided.

Ministry representatives emphasized their firm stance against any rule deviations that endanger the public and their commitment to utilizing all available measures to ensure safety in the nation's medical institutions.
