Health Ministry Shuts Down Tel Aviv Private Hospital Over Serious Violations

Israel's Ministry of Health has ordered the closure of the private Medica hospital in Tel Aviv's Ramat HaHayal neighborhood following an inspection that uncovered significant violations. The ministry stated that procedures were performed by individuals exceeding their professional authority and disregarding mandatory instructions. The review also identified other deficiencies in treatment organization and operational processes.

According to the Ministry of Health's statement, the "totality of the identified violations indicates a systemic failure in the hospital's operations and poses a threat to patient health and safety. The continued operation of the facility presents a serious and immediate danger to patients."

This action follows a similar incident in July when serious violations were found during an unannounced inspection at the Medica Raphael medical center. At that time, the ministry mandated the immediate cessation of operating room activities, later permitting a gradual resumption after corrective measures were implemented.

Medica Tel Aviv's management responded to the closure, asserting that the hospital performs thousands of operations monthly by leading Israeli surgeons and adheres to the highest medical and safety standards. They cited the repeated choice of their facility by doctors as evidence of their quality. The hospital management characterized the Ministry of Health's decision as "comprehensive and disproportionate" and based on "randomly identified cases."
