Health Ministry Shuts Down Medika Tel Aviv Clinic Over Serious Patient Safety Concerns

The Israeli Ministry of Health has ordered the immediate closure of the Medika Tel Aviv clinic, located in the Ramat Hachayal neighborhood, following a surprise inspection on Thursday that revealed severe findings regarding operating room procedures and patient safety. The inspection uncovered instances where medical procedures were performed outside of authorized professional scopes and other deficiencies in medical conduct and work processes.

The ministry stated that the collective findings indicate a systemic failure in the clinic's operations, posing an immediate and serious danger to patients' health and safety. Consequently, the district health physician issued an order halting all medical activity at the facility, effective Monday, September 28, 2026, until further notice.

In addition to the operational halt, management, owners, and the board of the Medika chain have been summoned for a hearing regarding the clinic's conduct. The Ministry of Health is also considering individual disciplinary actions against those found to have acted beyond their professional authority.

These findings follow similar serious deficiencies discovered in July at another Medika facility, Medika Rafael, which also led to a suspension of its operating room activities. Activity at Medika Rafael was gradually resumed after the identified issues were rectified and management committed to adhering to licensing conditions.

The Ministry of Health emphasized its serious view of any deviations from regulations designed to ensure safe medical treatment and pledged to use all available tools to protect patient health and safety.
