Netanyahu Meets UAE President in Abu Dhabi Amid Iran Concerns

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a six-hour visit to Abu Dhabi on Sunday, where he met with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to a source familiar with the details, the primary focus of their discussion was the Iranian issue.

The meeting followed two recent phone conversations between the two leaders. The visit comes amid controversy surrounding reports of a warning from bin Zayed to Netanyahu prior to the October 7th Hamas attack.

Earlier this month, Haaretz reported that in late September 2023, bin Zayed explicitly warned Netanyahu about Sinwar's intentions to harm Israel. The report stated that bin Zayed cautioned Netanyahu that Sinwar was planning a major move against Israel, but that Netanyahu did not update security officials. The Prime Minister's Office has previously denied this report.

Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is also expected to visit the UAE later on Sunday. Meanwhile, the US administration has stated it is unaware of any concrete warning from the UAE to Israel before October 7th.
