Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a clandestine visit to the United Arab Emirates on Sunday, meeting with President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. The meeting, which lasted only a few hours, reportedly focused on Iran and the broader regional tensions in the Middle East. Netanyahu traveled on a private jet, not the official "Wing of Zion" aircraft.

This visit follows recent reports, including a "New York Times" investigation, alleging that Netanyahu was warned by Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed about an impending Hamas attack prior to October 7th. According to the "New York Times," five senior Israeli officials claimed Netanyahu received this warning but did not relay it to security chiefs during a briefing on October 1st, 2023, six days before the Hamas massacre. Instead, Netanyahu reportedly stated the objective was to maintain quiet in Gaza and dismissed security recommendations for strikes against Hamas leaders, citing concerns that such actions could jeopardize Saudi Arabia's potential normalization with Israel.

The Prime Minister's office has not commented on the visit or the "New York Times" report. The newspaper also noted that two sources, claiming to have spoken with parties involved in the warning conversation, stated the intelligence was not specific regarding the nature of the Hamas threat, leaving ambiguity about whether it involved rocket fire or a ground invasion.
