Israel's Election Commission Approves Designations for 38 Knesset Lists

Israel's Central Election Committee (CEC) has approved the letter designations for 38 lists that will appear on ballots for the 26th Knesset elections, scheduled for October 27, 2026. These designations are crucial for voters to identify parties on election day.

Several prominent parties have retained their established designations. For instance, Benjamin Netanyahu's "Likud" will use מחל, Avigdor Lieberman's "Yisrael Beiteinu" will use ל, and Gadi Eisenkot's "Yahad" will use דרך. Naftali Bennett's "B'Yachad" list received רק, Itamar Ben-Gvir's "Otzma Yehudit" is assigned ב, Yair Golan's "Democratic Party" is אמת, Shas is שס, and "United Torah Judaism" is ג. The joint list of Bezalel Smotrich's "Religious Zionism" and Moshe Feiglin's "Zeut" will be ט.

The "Ra'am" and "Joint List" parties hold a conditional status. On September 23, the CEC voted to disqualify them from participating in the elections, but these decisions are not final and await a ruling from the Supreme Court. Their designations, עם for "Ra'am" and ודם for the "Joint List," are listed provisionally pending the court's decision.

Similarly, the Supreme Court will make the final determination on the participation of Ofer Cassif and Sami Abu Shehadeh, who were also disqualified by the CEC. A total of 38 lists submitted their documents to the CEC between September 7 and 8. Following registration, the committee reviewed party names, candidate compositions, and requested letter designations.
