Israel's Election Commission Assigns Ballot Designations for Knesset Race
The Central Elections Committee (CEC) has finalized the ballot designations for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections, assigning a unique letter or combination of letters to each of the 38 approved candidate lists. This decision, made under the leadership of Justice Noam Solberg, marks a significant step in the election preparations, with the vote scheduled to take place in 29 days. Prominent parties have retained their familiar symbols: Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud will use 'MAHAL' (מחל), and Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit will be represented by the letter 'Bet' (ב).
Other notable designations include Gadi Eisenkot's 'Yashar!' list receiving 'Derech' (דרך) and Yair Golan's 'Democrats' party being assigned 'Emet' (אמת). Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu (NDI) will use 'Lamed' (ל), while Benny Gantz's Kahol Lavan will be represented by 'Ken' (כן). The Religious Zionism party, led by Bezalel Smotrich and Moshe Feiglin's Zehut, will share the designation 'Tet' (ט).
However, the participation of some parties remains conditional pending High Court decisions. The CEC has disqualified the Arab parties Ra'am and the United List, and also barred two candidates from the latter. The CEC also decided to allow parties to monitor voter turnout in real-time on election day, enabling their representatives at polling stations to transmit data on who has already voted to their respective headquarters.
