Election Committee Assigns Letters to Israeli Political Parties
Israel's Central Elections Committee has finalized the Hebrew letters that will appear next to the names of political parties and lists running in the upcoming elections. Notable assignments include "R.K." for Naftali Bennett's "Achva" party, "D.R.K." for Gadi Eisenkot's list, "M.H.L." for Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party, and "B." for Itamar Ben-Gvir's Otzma Yehudit.
Other assignments include "E.M.T." for Yair Golan's Democrats, "L." for Avigdor Lieberman's Yisrael Beiteinu, "K.N." for Benny Gantz's Blue and White, "G." for United Torah Judaism, and "S.S." for Shas.
The committee rejected the "Yud-Hey" letter combination requested by the "Gan Eden" party, led by Yeshua Israel Ben David, due to concerns about offending public sensibilities, assigning "Hey" instead. The Ra'am party received the letters "A.M." and the Joint List received "V.D.M.", both with conditional approval pending High Court of Justice review after their candidacies were initially disqualified by the committee.
The full list of assigned letters and corresponding parties was published, detailing assignments for numerous smaller lists as well, including "Tz.D.K." for the "Chain for Love and Unity of the People" party, "D." for "The Partnership for All," and "Tz.F." for the "Pirates - Floating for Good."
