38 Slates Approved for Knesset Election, Party Designations Assigned

The Central Elections Committee, chaired by Judge Noam Solberg, has approved 38 candidate lists for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections, along with their designated Hebrew letters. The approved lists include major established parties as well as numerous new and smaller factions.

Key parties received their designations: Likud, led by Benjamin Netanyahu, will use the letters 'Mem-Heh-Lamed' (מחל); United Torah Judaism, 'Gimel' (ג); Shas, 'Samekh-Samekh' (שס); Otzma Yehudit, 'Bet' (ב); Religious Zionism and Zehut, 'Tet' (ט); The Democrats, led by Yair Golan, 'Aleph-Mem-Tet' (אמת); Blue and White, led by Benny Gantz, 'Kaf-Nun' (כן); and Yisrael Beiteinu, led by Avigdor Lieberman, 'Lamed' (ל).

Other approved lists include Naftali Bennett's 'Rak' (רק), Gadi Eisenkot's 'Derech' (דרך), and several additional Haredi parties such as 'HaTzibur HaHaredi' (הציבור החרדי), 'Magen Olam HaTorah', 'HaKehel', and 'Gehet - Gush HaTanachi'.

The committee rejected the letter choice 'Yud-Heh' (י-ה) for the 'Gan Eden' list, led by Yeshua Israel Ben David, due to concerns about offending public sensibilities, assigning them 'Heh' (ה) instead. The Ra'am party, assigned 'Ayin-Vav-Mem' (עם), was approved conditionally pending a Supreme Court decision, as the committee ruled it ineligible to participate under Basic Law: The Knesset, Section 7A(a)(1).

Similarly, the Joint List, assigned 'Vav-Dalet-Mem' (ודם), also received conditional approval pending the Supreme Court's ruling. The committee disqualified two of its candidates under the same legal provision.
