Israel's Central Elections Committee Approves 38 Knesset Candidate Lists
Israel's Central Elections Committee, headed by Justice Noam Sohlberg, has approved 38 candidate lists and their designated letters for the upcoming 26th Knesset elections. The committee finalized its decisions after a review and voting process.
Among the approved lists are those led by prominent political figures and parties, including Naftali Bennett's "Ach BaRosh" (One in the Lead), Gadi Eisenkot's "Derech" (The Way), and Benjamin Netanyahu's "HaLikud" (The Likud). Benny Gantz's "Kachol Lavan" (Blue and White) and Bezalel Smotrich's "HaTzionut HaDatit" (Religious Zionism) also received approval.
The committee rejected the initial letter choice "Yeh" for the "Gan Eden" list, led by Yeshua Israel Ben David, due to concerns about offending public sensibilities, and instead approved the letter "Heh" (ה).
Notably, the "Da'am" list, a joint Arab-Jewish list led by Avi Shaked, was approved pending a Supreme Court decision. The committee had previously ruled the list ineligible to participate in the elections under Basic Law: The Knesset, and disqualified two of its candidates.
