The passing of Rabbi David Tzuriel Biton, a prominent kabbalist and head of the 'HaShalom' yeshiva in Jerusalem, has been met with widespread mourning. Rabbi Biton died at the age of 85.

Shas described Rabbi Biton as a great Torah scholar who "taught Torah and established many students," noting his humility and his fervent prayers for the Jewish people. Shas extended condolences to his family, including his son and successor, Rabbi Yitzhak Biton.
Rabbi Biton was known for his piety and was said to have endured significant suffering with acceptance. His passing occurred shortly before the Sukkot holiday, with a poignant note made that his wife passed away before Passover.
He was laid to rest in Jerusalem's Sanhedria cemetery.
