Renowned Kabbalist Rabbi David Biton Passes Away at 85

The world of Torah and Kabbalah is mourning the passing of Rabbi David Shalom Biton, a leading Kabbalist of our generation and head of the 'HaShalom' yeshiva in Jerusalem. Rabbi Biton died at the age of 85.

Medical teams were called to his home in Bnei Brak following a sudden medical event. He was evacuated to the hospital while resuscitation efforts were underway, but doctors were forced to declare his death.

Born in Jerusalem in 1941 to a family of Babylonian sages, Rabbi Biton was a descendant of prominent rabbinic figures, including the grandson of the renowned Rabbi Yehuda Fetaya, from whom he inherited his knowledge of mystical wisdom. In his youth, he studied at the 'Porat Yosef' yeshiva in the Old City under Rabbi Ezra Attia and was influenced by Rabbi Ovadia Yosef and Rabbi Mordechai Eliyahu.

For decades, Rabbi Biton led a yeshiva for Kabbalists in Jerusalem, conducted numerous repentance sessions, and was considered one of the most prominent and influential spiritual figures in the religious community. He is survived by a distinguished family of scholars, Torah disseminators, and rabbinical judges.
