Prominent Kabbalist Rabbi David Batzri Dies at 85
The world of Torah and Hasidism is mourning the passing of Rabbi David Shalom Batzri, a leading Kabbalist and head of the "HaShalom" yeshiva, who died Friday at the age of 85. The revered rabbi collapsed suddenly on Rabbi Landa Street in Bnei Brak early Friday morning. Emergency medical teams performed prolonged resuscitation efforts, successfully restoring his pulse. He was then rushed to Sheba Medical Center at Tel HaShomer, sedated and on a ventilator.
Thousands of people worldwide prayed for Rabbi Batzri's recovery following an urgent appeal from his son, Kabbalist Rabbi Yitzhak Batzri. Despite the efforts of medical staff at the hospital, the rabbi's condition deteriorated rapidly, and he was pronounced dead.
Rabbi Batzri was considered one of the foremost Kabbalists and a prominent spiritual leader for decades. Tens of thousands of students and followers sought his counsel over the years. He leaves behind a vast Torah legacy and a prestigious yeshiva in Jerusalem. The date and time of his funeral procession will be announced later.
