Renowned Kabbalist Rabbi David Batsri Dies at 85

Rabbi David Shalom Batsri, the head of the "HaShalom" Kabbalah yeshiva and considered the "eldest Kabbalist," passed away this morning at the age of 85. Rabbi Batsri collapsed suddenly at his home on Rabbi Landa Street in Bnei Brak, where he had been living in recent years. Medical and rescue forces who were called to the scene performed prolonged resuscitation efforts and evacuated him in critical condition to the Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer.

Despite the doctors' efforts to save his life, he died, to the deep sorrow of his thousands of students, admirers, and all of Israel. In recent years, the Kabbalist experienced fluctuations in his health, including occasional hospitalizations. Nevertheless, he continued with immense devotion to teach the "hidden Torah," receive people for advice and blessings, and perform "rectifications and salvations" for the public and individuals.

Alongside leading the yeshiva, Rabbi Batsri was widely known for his vast knowledge of names and spirits, and his mastery of the tradition of his grandfather, Rabbi Yehuda Fetaya. This expertise was notably demonstrated in rare and moving ceremonies to expel "dybbuks" (demons), which gained international attention and sparked significant spiritual awakening. The world of Torah and Kabbalah has lost one of its leading figures, a genius and righteous man who performed many miracles and mentored numerous students.
