The IDF said it struck northern Gaza over the weekend, on Saturday, killing Ahmed Munir Khalil Zaza, the engineering chief of the West Jabalia battalion in the Gaza City area. According to the military, Zaza was involved in producing and distributing weapons between company units and was responsible for building explosive devices and booby-trapped buildings.
The IDF said that in recent days Zaza also tried to place explosive devices near the yellow line, apparently to target Israeli forces operating in the area. The yellow line refers to the boundary around which troops have been active in the fighting zone.
In a separate strike in northern Gaza, the army killed Hussein Safadi, who commanded the sniper array in Gaza City. The IDF said Safadi had been responsible throughout the war for all sniper attacks against its forces in the city.
The military added that in recent periods Safadi repeatedly violated the ceasefire agreement and tried to train militants and advance additional sniper attacks against IDF troops.
