IDF Kills Senior Hamas Military Commander in Northern Gaza Strike
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Tuesday that it conducted a targeted strike in northern Gaza, killing Muhammad Marwan Muhammad Salem, the head of military security for the Central Battalion of Jabalia within Hamas's military wing. The operation also eliminated several other militants involved in planning and executing terrorist attacks against Israeli forces.
Among those killed was Abd al-Malik Abu al-Jabin, a senior operative in the Central Battalion of Jabalia who also served as head of investigations in Hamas's police force. Additional casualties included Yaman Muhammad Jibril Abid, a militant from the Central Battalion, and Ghassan Akram Salama Daks, a member of the Western Jabalia Battalion who was also active in Hamas's police.
The IDF stated that recent intelligence indicated these militants were coordinating efforts to carry out attacks against Israeli troops operating in Gaza. The strike was carried out to neutralize this imminent threat. The Southern Command forces remain deployed in the area according to existing agreements and will continue to act against any immediate threats to Israeli security.
Israeli defense officials emphasized that operations in Gaza are ongoing alongside efforts to thwart senior Hamas figures and operatives, aiming to degrade the terrorist group's infrastructure and operational capabilities.
