Maccabi Tel Aviv expects to see captain Dor Peretz at the squad’s opening training session, as negotiations over his future continue. The club is trying to close one of the summer’s biggest unresolved sagas, with new details emerging about the offer already on the table.
According to Sport5, the proposal is a three-year contract with an option, plus bonuses. One clause ties part of Peretz’s salary to the number of matches he plays in a season, so if he reaches the required threshold he could recover much of the pay cut built into the base deal. Additional bonuses could also lift his total earnings above his current base salary of 400,000 euros.
The report says the offer was not newly made, but had already been presented to Peretz some time ago. Maccabi’s willingness to offer a long-term deal is being taken as a sign that the club wants to keep him. Peretz, the team captain and last season’s league top scorer, has also received offers from Dinamo Zagreb, Ferencvaros and Omonia Nicosia.
He was also approached by a club from the Far East, but turned that down. Maccabi Tel Aviv is now hoping he will join the players for training as early as tomorrow.
