Maccabi Tel Aviv opens preseason training on Monday evening and is expected to have only some of its foreign players present. Kenny Miller, who is expected to be appointed the club’s coach, is set to run the session.
The main issue remains Dor Peretz. The midfielder has not yet signed a new deal and is not expected to attend the first training session. Maccabi are trying to end the impasse and keep the captain for next season, but they want an answer by tomorrow and are prepared to move on to other targets if none comes.
The proposed contract includes a clause tied to the number of matches he plays, which would help offset a reduction from his base salary. Additional bonuses could lift his earnings above 450,000 euros, his current base pay. The offer is a three-year deal with an option, and the club stressed it is not a new proposal but one made some time ago.
Peretz has also received offers from Dinamo Zagreb, Ferencvaros and Omonia Nicosia, and had one from the Far East that he turned down. Beyond the Peretz saga, Maccabi plan to add a foreign center back and striker, and if left back Roy Revivo leaves this summer, they will seek a foreign left back as his replacement.
