Maccabi Tel Aviv expects new coach soon as talks continue over Dor Peretz
Maccabi Tel Aviv is preparing for the 2026/2027 season and, after appointing Steven Vanharen as the club’s new sporting director, is now looking for its next head coach. According to estimates, a new coach is expected to arrive by the start of next week, join the club’s preseason preparations, and help lead the buildup for European matches.
The club is also waiting on developments in the Dor Peretz saga. Maccabi’s offer to the midfielder remains unchanged, and no further meeting has been set between the sides. Vanharen’s arrival has not yet moved the talks forward, though there is a chance he will later sit down with Peretz about the matter.
A source around the club said, “In the end, the address is Maccabi owner Mitch Goldhar.” The same source added, “Everyone wants Peretz, that is clear to everyone, but the one who pays and the only person who can improve the offer is Goldhar.”
On the transfer front, the club’s first priorities are a foreign center back and a foreign striker. There is also concern over Ion Nicolaescu’s recovery, which is taking longer than expected, and the striker is not likely to begin the season with the team.
