Three Dead, Hundreds Injured in Yom Kippur Incidents Across Israel

Three people died and 46 were injured in traffic accidents during Yom Kippur, Israel's Day of Atonement, according to Magen David Adom (MDA) emergency services. The deceased were men aged 50, 45, and 31. One victim, involved in a truck collision near Shfaram, was initially in critical condition and later pronounced dead at the hospital. A 37-year-old woman sustained severe injuries, three others moderate, and 39 light injuries from traffic incidents.

MDA teams provided assistance to a total of 3,322 individuals throughout the 25-hour Yom Kippur period. Of these, 2,268 were transported to hospitals. A significant number, 368 people, experienced fainting, dehydration, or illness related to fasting. Additionally, 299 individuals, primarily children, suffered injuries from recreational activities like cycling and skateboarding.

During the holiday, MDA also facilitated the transport of 155 women in labor to hospitals, with paramedics assisting in five births before hospital arrival in cities including Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Ashdod, and Yavneel. The MDA Blood Services delivered 152 units of plasma for emergency transfusions.

Separately, in Umm el-Fahm, a man, believed to be an illegal resident from the Palestinian Authority, was killed in a violent incident. Police are investigating all possibilities, including intentional homicide. In other incidents across Israel, MDA assisted 40 individuals, including a 33-year-old man from Beersheba who is in serious condition, five with moderate injuries, and 33 with light injuries.
