Two Dead in Yom Kippur Accidents, Thousands Treated by Magen David Adom

Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics responded to 3,322 individuals across Israel during Yom Kippur, with 2,268 requiring hospitalization. The majority of calls, 368, were for fainting, dehydration, and general illness related to fasting.

Recreational injuries were also prevalent, with 299 people treated for incidents involving bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, and skateboards. Of these, 290 sustained minor injuries and 9 were in moderate condition.

Violence resulted in 40 injuries, including one fatality of a man in his 40s in Umm al-Fahm, and one critical injury to a 33-year-old man in Be'er Sheva. Five others were in moderate condition and 33 in mild condition.

Road accidents claimed two lives and injured 46 people. The deceased were men aged 31 and 45, both suffering from multi-system trauma. An additional person was in critical condition with a head injury, a 37-year-old woman had limb injuries and was in serious condition, three were in moderate condition, and 39 sustained minor injuries.

MDA also assisted in 155 births, with five delivered by paramedics in Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, and Chashmonaim. Blood services provided 152 units of blood and blood components to hospitals nationwide.
