Three Dead in Road Accidents During Yom Kippur; Body Found

Three people were killed in separate road accidents across Israel during the Yom Kippur holiday. In the Lower Galilee, a concrete truck overturned in Bu'eine Nujeidat, killing the driver, Bashar Khatib, in his 40s. Firefighters worked for over an hour to extract Khatib from the vehicle. In another fatal crash on Route 4370 near Anatot, east of Jerusalem, a 45-year-old motorcyclist died when his motorcycle collided with a car. His 37-year-old female passenger sustained serious leg injuries and was evacuated to Hadassah Mount Scopus Hospital, along with two lightly injured individuals from the car.

A third fatality occurred in a road accident in Shfaram. Overall, Magen David Adom reported treating 46 people injured in road accidents nationwide during the holiday, including the three deceased, the seriously injured woman, three with moderate injuries, and 39 with light injuries.

Separately, the body of Omar Al-Sadeh, an undocumented resident from the territories in his 40s, was discovered in a house in Umm al-Fahm. Police are investigating the circumstances of his death, including the possibility of murder. Local residents claimed Al-Sadeh had fallen and sustained serious injuries days earlier but avoided medical treatment due to his illegal status, also suffering from other illnesses.

Magen David Adom responded to 3,322 calls across the country during Yom Kippur, evacuating 2,268 people to hospitals. This included 368 individuals suffering from fainting, dehydration, or general malaise due to fasting, and 299 injured from cycling, rollerblading, scooters, and skateboards. The organization also assisted in 155 births, with five babies delivered by MDA teams before reaching the hospital.
