Three Dead, Thousands Treated During Yom Kippur Observance

During the Yom Kippur holiday, three individuals lost their lives in separate incidents across Israel. Two fatalities resulted from traffic accidents, while a third occurred during an act of violence. Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that its teams provided medical treatment to a total of 3,322 people nationwide as the fast concluded.

Of the total treated, 2,268 individuals required hospitalization. Traffic accidents alone injured 46 people. Among the road accident victims, two men, aged 45 and 31, died from severe, multi-system injuries. A man in his 50s sustained a critical head injury, and a 37-year-old woman suffered serious injuries to her limbs. Three others had moderate injuries, and 39 sustained minor ones.

Violence-related incidents resulted in 40 injuries. A man in his 40s died after being injured in Umm al-Fahm, and a 33-year-old man was seriously wounded with a penetrating injury in Beersheba. Five others sustained moderate injuries, and 33 had minor ones.

Additionally, 299 people required medical attention for injuries sustained while riding bicycles, rollerblades, scooters, and skateboards. Nine of these were moderately injured, and 290 had minor injuries. The high temperatures and fasting also led to 368 people fainting, suffering from dehydration, or feeling unwell.

MDA emergency services were also busy with maternity calls, transporting 155 women in labor to hospitals. Five women gave birth with the assistance of MDA teams in various locations, including Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Hasmonean, Ashdod, and Yavne'el. MDA's blood services supplied 152 units and components of blood to hospitals throughout the country during the holiday.
