Magen David Adom Treats Over 3,300 During Yom Kippur
Magen David Adom (MDA) reported that its teams provided medical treatment to 3,322 individuals across Israel during Yom Kippur. Of these, 2,268 were transported to hospitals for further care. The majority of cases, 368 people, suffered from fainting, dehydration, and general malaise attributed to fasting.
Another significant number, 299 individuals, sustained injuries while using bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and roller skates. Among them, 9 were classified as having moderate injuries and 290 as minor. Violence-related incidents resulted in 40 injuries, including one fatality in Umm al-Fahm and a serious injury in Beersheba, alongside 5 moderate and 33 minor injuries.
Road accidents during the holiday period led to 46 injuries, with two fatalities reported. Additionally, one critical head injury, one serious injury to a woman, 3 moderate, and 39 minor injuries were recorded from traffic incidents.
MDA medical teams also assisted in 155 hospital transfers for women in labor and facilitated five births in various locations, including Bnei Brak, Jerusalem, Hasmonean, Ashdod, and Yavne'el. The organization's blood services supplied hospitals with 152 units and components of blood during the holiday.
