Magen David Adom Paramedics Treat Over 3,300 During Yom Kippur
Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics provided medical assistance to 3,322 Israelis nationwide during Yom Kippur, the organization's press service reported. Of those requiring aid, 2,268 were transported to hospitals. A significant number of cases, 368 individuals, involved fainting, dehydration, or feeling unwell due to fasting. Additionally, 299 people sustained injuries from riding bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, and skateboards, with nine of these cases being moderate injuries. MDA teams also responded to 40 individuals injured in criminal incidents, including one fatality in Umm el-Fahm and another severe injury in Beersheba. Road accidents resulted in 46 injured individuals, with two men aged approximately 45 and 30 killed in one crash. Another person was in critical condition, and one woman suffered severe injuries from traffic incidents. In a different capacity, MDA crews facilitated 155 hospital transports for women in labor, and five babies were born in ambulances before reaching medical facilities. The MDA blood bank supplied hospitals with 152 units of blood and blood components during the holiday period.
