Israel's Ben Gurion Airport Warns Travelers Against Private Valet Services

Israel Airports Authority (IAA) has issued a stern warning to travelers at Ben Gurion Airport regarding the dangers of using unauthorized private valet parking services. The IAA clarified that companies advertising services like "airport parking," "near-airport parking," or "terminal-side parking" are not affiliated with the airport and that no official valet parking service exists at Ben Gurion.

The warning comes after numerous passenger complaints detailing issues such as vehicle damage, unauthorized use of cars while owners were abroad, and traffic violation fines incurred by owners upon their return. Some passengers also reported being unable to contact the private companies after handing over their vehicles, leading to difficulties in resolving damages or recouping costs.

The IAA emphasized its lack of involvement with these private entities that offer to pick up vehicles at the terminal and return them post-flight. The authority stated it is taking action against illegal operations at the airport, including legal proceedings and removing unauthorized personnel.

Travelers arriving at Ben Gurion by car are advised to use the official IAA parking facilities, noting that free shuttle buses operate between long-term parking areas and the terminals. Alternatively, passengers are encouraged to consider using public transportation, such as trains, to reach the airport. The core message is to avoid entrusting vehicles to private individuals or companies offering valet services at Ben Gurion, as these are not officially sanctioned.
