Palestinian Journalist Arrested on Suspicion of Aiding Iran, Inciting Terrorism

A Palestinian journalist working for a media outlet allegedly linked to Iran has been arrested and is under investigation by the Israeli Police's Judea and Samaria District crime-fighting unit. The journalist, a woman in her 30s from the village of Beitunia, faces serious charges including trading with the enemy, inciting terrorism, and harming IDF operational security.

Her arrest followed an intensive investigation by the unit, which is examining her alleged ties to the Iranian regime. Authorities are collecting evidence to understand the nature of her direct connections to Iran and its representatives. Investigators are also scrutinizing her publications for evidence of open identification with and encouragement of terrorism.

During a court hearing on Thursday, her detention was extended by seven days until September 23, 2026. Police stated that the investigation is ongoing and emphasized their commitment to prosecuting anyone involved in inciting or supporting terrorism.

The investigation is part of a broader effort to counter Iranian influence and hostile actors using foreign media as a platform for propaganda, incitement, and intelligence gathering against Israeli security forces. The use of the "trading with the enemy" charge suggests suspicions of financial transfers, salary payments, or economic cooperation with entities linked to Iran.

Israeli security agencies have reportedly increased surveillance of channels and reporters funded by Tehran, viewing foreign-funded information warfare and financial support as direct extensions of terrorist activities on the ground.
