Palestinian Journalist Arrested on Suspicion of Ties to Iran

A Palestinian journalist, reportedly working for a channel linked to Iran, has been arrested on suspicion of collaborating with the enemy, incitement, and supporting a hostile organization. A court in Benjamin extended her detention for an additional seven days, until September 23. The suspect, a resident of Beitunia in her 30s, was apprehended by investigators from the Judea and Samaria District's crime fighting unit.

The investigation, which is being conducted in cooperation with additional security agencies, is examining evidence regarding the nature of the suspect's connection to Iran. Authorities suspect the journalist acted against regional security and IDF operations, while expressing identification with and inciting terrorism. Police are gathering evidence and analyzing her network of contacts with Iranian elements.

During a court hearing on Thursday, police requested the extension to continue collecting evidence and investigating the alleged ties. The court granted the request, extending her detention until September 23. The police spokesperson stated that "the Israel Police, along with security agencies, will continue to act decisively against offenses of incitement and support for terrorism, until full legal proceedings are taken against all who participate in these acts."

This case follows a series of investigations over the past year against individuals suspected of having ties to hostile entities. Approximately one month ago, a resident of Jericho was arrested on suspicion of publishing incitement content on social media and openly supporting the Hamas terror organization.
