US Citizen and Press TV Journalist Detained by Israeli Military in West Bank
Israeli forces detained Nake Hamed, a Palestinian journalist holding U.S. citizenship, at a checkpoint in Judea and Samaria. The detention occurred as Hamed was returning from a reporting assignment. Israeli military sources stated that the arrest is linked to her professional activities for the Iranian state-run television channel Press TV, alleging she collaborated with a hostile organization and is suspected of espionage.
Hamed's family confirmed her detention and suggested that increased Israeli scrutiny might stem from a recent report she produced on the village of Kusra, an area that has previously faced attacks from Israeli settlers. Military officials indicated that a full investigation into suspected espionage is underway.
As of the report, U.S. official bodies had not issued public statements regarding the detention of their citizen in the West Bank.
