Palestinian Journalist Arrested on Suspicion of Ties to Iran

A Palestinian journalist in her 30s, a resident of Beitunia, has been arrested on suspicion of collaborating with the enemy, incitement, and identifying with terrorism, the police announced Friday. Authorities suspect the journalist, who reportedly works for a channel allegedly linked to Iran, has been involved in these activities. A court ordered her detention extended by seven days, until September 23.

The investigation is being conducted by the Judea and Samaria District's crime-fighting unit, in cooperation with additional security agencies. Police stated that investigators are gathering evidence to examine the nature of the suspect's connection to Iran. The charges being examined include incitement and support for an enemy organization, identifying with and inciting terrorism, harming regional security or the IDF, and prohibited trade with the enemy.

The journalist was arrested several days ago and brought before a judge on Thursday, who approved the police's request for an extended detention. Police emphasized that the investigation is ongoing and involves multiple security bodies.

This arrest follows a series of cases exposed in the past year involving suspected ties to Iranian elements. In April, police investigated individuals accused of providing services to Iranian entities, including attempts to produce explosives and conduct related experiments. More recently, in May, indictments were filed against a civilian and three IDF soldiers accused of carrying out numerous tasks for Iranian operatives, such as photographing sensitive locations and being asked to locate a missile defense system and plant a GPS device on a vehicle.
