Palestinian-American Journalist Detained on Suspicion of Aiding Enemy State

A Palestinian-American journalist, Nakaa Hamed, has been ordered to remain in detention until September 23rd as part of an investigation into alleged dealings with an enemy state, incitement, and support for a hostile organization. Hamed, who resides in Beitunia and is in her 30s, works as a reporter for Iran's English-language Press TV.

According to police, the investigation is being conducted by the anti-crime unit in the Samaria region of the Judea and Samaria District. The charges include incitement, supporting a hostile organization, harming regional security or the IDF, and prohibited trade with the enemy. Investigators are gathering evidence and examining Hamed's connections with Iran, alongside suspicions of identification with and incitement to terrorism. Other security agencies are cooperating in the investigation.

Hamed was arrested on Tuesday at a checkpoint near Tekoa, southeast of Bethlehem. The Palestinian Journalists Syndicate stated she was returning from Hebron after filming a report. She was brought before a judge yesterday, who granted the police's request to extend her detention by seven days.

The police issued a statement affirming their commitment, alongside other security bodies, to "resolutely combat offenses of incitement and support for terrorism, until full legal proceedings are taken against all who participate in these acts."
