Five Dead in Multiple Fatal Road Accidents Across Israel

Five people were killed in four separate road accidents across Israel on September 17. The fatalities occurred over several hours and in different locations, highlighting a deadly day on the country's roads.

In the evening, a collision between a car and a motorcycle on Highway 780 near Kiryat Atta resulted in the death of the 35-year-old motorcyclist. The taxi driver involved sustained minor injuries. The accident led to the closure of Highway 780 in both directions and caused significant traffic congestion.

Earlier in the day, two people died in an accident on Highway 310 in the northern Negev, near the settlement of Giv'at Bar.

In Tel Aviv, a taxi driver, approximately 70 years old, died following a collision with a bus on Ayalon Highway near the Kerem Kayemet interchange. Preliminary reports suggest the taxi attempted to merge into the bus lane, designated for public transportation, when it was cut off by the bus. The taxi driver was extracted from the wreckage unconscious and without vital signs, and despite resuscitation efforts en route to Ichilov Hospital, he could not be saved. A 69-year-old passenger in the taxi suffered moderate injuries, and three other passengers sustained minor wounds.

Overall, MADA emergency services reported 19 traffic accidents on September 17, with 27 individuals injured in addition to the five fatalities.
