Three Arrested for Extortion Attempt in Northern Israel
Israeli police have arrested three men, aged 32, 36, and 50, from the towns of Iksal and Nazareth in northern Israel on suspicion of demanding 1 million shekels (approximately $270,000) in protection money under threat.
The investigation revealed that a clerical error had initially registered a plot of land belonging to the victim in Iksal under the name of one of the suspects. After the error was corrected, the suspect allegedly refused to accept the correction and instead involved a crime family to extort the victim.
The victim reported that grenades were thrown at his home and the homes of his relatives. He also stated that he received death threats against himself and his family when he refused to comply with the suspects' demands.
Following their investigation, police intend to file indictments against the three arrested individuals.
