Three Arrested, Charged for Extortion Attempt in Umm Al-Fahm

Northern District Police have arrested and charged three men, aged 24 to 39, in connection with an extortion attempt in Umm Al-Fahm. The incident began on August 8, 2026, when police received a report from a resident claiming individuals had arrived at his home demanding a large sum of money and threatening him. The victim reported the suspects were armed with a handgun.

Responding officers from the Northern District quickly arrived at the scene and initiated a search. The investigation revealed that the three suspects allegedly demanded 300,000 shekels from the victim, invoking the name of a criminal organization. Police stated the suspects instilled fear, issuing death threats such as, "You will not leave the house, I will fill you with bags."

Following the incident, the suspects fled the scene. However, police intensified their search efforts and apprehended the individuals shortly after the initial response. The suspects are residents of Umm Al-Fahm and An'ura.

After their arrest, the investigation continued. Subsequently, the Northern District Public Prosecution filed an indictment against the three men at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil Magistrate's Court. The charges stem from the alleged extortion attempt and threats made against the victim.
