Police Arrest Three Suspects in Gunpoint Extortion Attempt
Police in northern Israel apprehended three suspects who allegedly attempted to extort NIS 300,000 from a resident by threatening him with a handgun. The incident occurred when the suspects arrived at the victim's home and demanded the payment, identified as 'protection money.' The victim immediately contacted the police emergency hotline while the suspects were present.
Numerous police units were dispatched to the scene and initiated a pursuit. The suspects were apprehended following a manhunt. Investigators believe the suspects leveraged the name of a known criminal gang to intimidate the victim.
Indictments have been filed against the three individuals, who are residents of Umm al-Fahm and Na'ura. The investigation revealed that the suspects allegedly used the gang's name to instill fear during the extortion attempt.
