Four Indicted for Attempted Hashish Smuggling to Jordan

Israeli police announced Wednesday the conclusion of an investigation leading to indictments against four individuals, including a minor, suspected of attempting to smuggle a significant quantity of hashish into Jordan. The incident occurred on August 22, 2026, when forces, in cooperation with the IDF, observed suspects near the border fence. According to police, the suspects threw 36 packages of hashish into Jordanian territory before attempting to flee. Security forces apprehended them shortly after.

The hashish packages were subsequently seized by Jordanian authorities. The four defendants include two brothers from northern Israel, one of whom is a minor, and two individuals from southern Israel. They were taken for interrogation by the Northern District's Central Unit.

The indictments were filed against the four at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil Central Court. Police stated that this case is part of ongoing efforts to thwart smuggling attempts across the eastern border, which have resulted in the seizure of large drug quantities in recent months.

Overall, approximately 700 kilograms of drugs have been confiscated in these operations over the past few months. The current indictment specifically concerns an attempt to smuggle about 20 kilograms of hashish, represented by the 36 packages thrown across the border.
