Four Indicted for Attempted Drug Smuggling to Jordan

Four individuals have been indicted for attempting to smuggle approximately 20 kilograms of hashish into Jordan across the eastern border. The incident occurred about a month ago when suspects were identified near the border fence during a joint operation by the Northern District's Central Unit Border Division and IDF forces from Brigade 417 and the Border Police.

During the operation, 36 packages containing the hashish were thrown over the fence into Jordanian territory. Border unit officers apprehended the suspects after they fled the scene. The four arrested individuals include two brothers, one of whom is a minor, from northern Israel, and two residents from the south.

The indictment was filed against them by the Northern District Prosecutor's Office at the Nazareth-Nof HaGalil District Court. This bust is part of a larger effort by security forces, who have thwarted the smuggling of around 700 kilograms of drugs across the eastern border in recent months.

The Northern District's Border Division is at the forefront of combating the smuggling of weapons and drugs into and out of Israel from its borders with Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and the Palestinian territories. This unit, staffed by elite fighters, conducts ambushes and arrests suspects involved in smuggling and trading weapons and drugs as part of the Israel Police's comprehensive fight against illegal weapons and drugs.
