Police Find Grenade, Ammo Hidden Under Baby Stroller in Nazareth Raid
Police in Nazareth uncovered a significant cache of illegal weapons and drugs during a raid on a rented lodging, leading to the arrest of two local men. Officers from the Northern District and Border Police acted on intelligence regarding the presence of weapons at the location.
During the search of the premises, officers discovered dozens of pre-packaged portions of suspected cocaine and hashish. They also encountered two suspects, aged 23 and 28, both residents of Nazareth, inside and near the lodging. A car key found on one of the suspects led police to a vehicle parked outside.
A search of the vehicle revealed a bag concealed beneath a baby stroller. Upon opening the bag, officers found a fragmentation grenade and dozens of live ammunition rounds. The two suspects were arrested in connection with these findings.
Authorities are expected to bring the suspects before the Magistrate's Court in Nazareth on Tuesday to request an extension of their detention. The investigation is ongoing as police work to determine the origin of the weapons and drugs and their connection to the arrested individuals.
