Police Find Gun and Drugs Hidden in School Backpack in Nazareth

Israeli police discovered a handgun and various drugs concealed inside a school backpack at a school in Nazareth during a joint operation by Northern District police and Border Police fighters. The operation took place on Sunday, leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old Nazareth resident who is expected to be brought before the Nof HaGalil-Nazareth court, where police will seek to extend his detention. Details about the types and quantities of drugs or the suspect's connection to the school remain undisclosed.

This incident is part of a broader crackdown on violent crime and illegal weapons in the Northern District. Since the beginning of the year, police and Border Police have seized over 570 weapons in the region. Authorities emphasized that efforts to locate illegal firearms and arrest suspects will continue to reduce violence.

The recent discovery follows other seizures in Nazareth, including a March raid by National Guard, Border Police, and Northern District detectives on a warehouse where "Carlo" submachine guns, other weapons, and drugs such as hashish and "Nice Guy" were found. A 26-year-old Nazareth resident was arrested during that operation and taken for questioning.
