Firefighter Suspect Arrested for Alleged Terror Plot, Hamas and Iran Links

A serious security incident was revealed Monday involving a 19-year-old from Kafr Qasim who served as a firefighter in central Israel. He was arrested on suspicion of planning multiple terror attacks, attempting to establish a terror cell, and contacting Hamas and an individual linked to Iranian intelligence. The arrest occurred about a month ago as part of an investigation by the Sharon District Police and the Shin Bet.

According to the investigation, at least one of the planned attacks was to be carried out at a strategic site the suspect accessed through his firefighting duties. He allegedly identified the location as a potential target and exploited his access and knowledge gained during his service to advance the plan. The suspect reportedly began showing interest in terrorism at age 16 and underwent a significant radicalization process after the start of the war in Gaza, seeking ways to harm Israel.

During his alleged activities, he reportedly contacted Hamas operatives and an individual identified with Iranian intelligence. He also sought combat guides, downloaded instructions for making explosives, and attempted to construct explosive devices from various materials. The investigation further suggests he tried to form a terror cell and recruit two acquaintances from Kafr Qasim, who were detained for about two weeks but have not yet faced charges due to insufficient evidence.

During a raid on the suspect's home by the Shin Bet and Border Police, airsoft guns and extensive training equipment were seized. After approximately one month in custody, an indictment is expected to be filed against him on Tuesday.
