Firefighter Suspected of Planning Attacks, Forming Terror Cell

A serious security incident is under investigation involving a 19-year-old from Kafr Qasim who served in national service as a firefighter. He was arrested approximately one month ago on suspicion of promoting terrorist activities, planning multiple attacks, and establishing a terror cell. According to initial findings, at least one planned attack was to target a strategic site accessible through his firefighting duties. The suspect allegedly identified this location as a potential target and exploited his access and knowledge gained during his service.

The investigation suggests the young man developed an interest in terrorism at age 16. Following the outbreak of the war in Gaza, he is suspected of undergoing a significant radicalization process and actively seeking ways to harm the state. During his activities, he reportedly contacted foreign elements, including Hamas operatives and an individual linked to Iranian intelligence.

Authorities suspect he sought combat guidance, downloaded instructions for making explosives, and attempted to construct explosive devices. He is also believed to have worked on forming a terror cell and attempted to recruit two acquaintances from his hometown. These two individuals were detained for about two weeks but were later released due to insufficient evidence for charges.

During a raid on the suspect's home by the Shin Bet and Border Police, airsoft weapons and extensive training equipment were seized. After nearly a month in custody, an indictment is expected to be filed against him tomorrow.
