Raz Hershko Reclaims World No. 1 Ranking After Budapest Grand Slam Gold
Israeli judoka Raz Hershko has returned to the top of the world rankings in the women's over 78kg category following her gold medal victory at the Budapest Grand Slam. Hershko's win was part of a successful weekend for the Israeli national judo team, which secured three medals in Hungary, placing third overall in the team standings.
Alongside Hershko's gold, fellow Israeli judoka Yitzhak Aziza also won a gold medal in the under 60kg division. Karem Primo added a bronze medal in the under 63kg category. Hershko, known for her consistent performance and numerous medals, has reclaimed her top spot, described as her "natural place" in the sport.
Aziza's gold medal performance propelled him from fifth to second in the world rankings for his weight class. At just 18 years old, Aziza is having a remarkable season, making Israeli judo history. The team has since traveled from Budapest to Bratislava for a training camp, with their next major competition being the World Championships in Baku starting October 4th.
