Raz Hershko Reclaims World No. 1 Ranking After Budapest Judo Grand Slam Success
The Israeli national judo team concluded the recent Grand Slam tournament in Budapest with significant achievements, securing three medals and placing third overall in the team standings.
Judo athlete Raz Hershko, competing in the +78 kg category, clinched a gold medal, which propelled her back to the number one world ranking in her weight class. Hershko is recognized as one of Israel's most consistent athletes, frequently earning medals across competition seasons.
Isaac Azani, in the -60 kg category, also secured a gold medal in Budapest. This victory has moved him to the second position in the global rankings for his weight division. Azani, only 18 years old, was previously ranked fifth and has made a remarkable climb, establishing himself among the world's elite. Karem Primo (-63 kg) contributed a bronze medal to Israel's tally at the Budapest event.
